5 Ways I’m Using my WIMM One Smart Watch Today

The times of watches that just let you know time and date are long gone. At CES we saw a blast of shrewd watches from numerous merchants, yet the most energizing savvy I saw was the one I had on my wrist.

For as long as month I've been wearing a savvy, or as WIMM calls it, a wearable gadget. I need to impart some of my most loved employments of a savvy.

The savvy I am utilizing isn't some idea that may turn out, it doesn't simply offer another watchface like the ipod Nano and its way more valuable than the Motoactv in the event that you aren't a wellness nut.

The WIMM One Engineer Review is a brilliant module that accompanies a wriststrap that transforms it into a savvy, yet we'll soon see a number different adornments that permit you to interface it to your bicycle, trekking stick, necklace and that's just the beginning.

The WIMM One Designer Review is accessible for an alluring $199 at Amazon at this time, and as indicated by the organization we'll see marked forms turning out from retailers soon.

Here's a gander at how I am utilizing a savvy as a part of my ordinary life, and why I can never backpedal to an idiotic watch.

How I’m Using a Smart Watch

Receiving Notifications

One of my favorite uses of the WIMM One smart watch is the ability to receive notifications of calls and text messages on my wrist. When you get a text message or phone call on your Android or BlackBerry the watch vibrates and makes a noise, which you can turn off if you need quiet.
At CES this was a necessity given the noise on the show floor, and now that I am at home I still love the notification feature. Wether I am in line at the store, driving or just sitting around I can see why my phone is making noise without taking it out of my pocket. You can even see photo of your contacts.
Right now I can send a call to voicemail, but I have no response options. According to WIMM, they are working on a set of 10 predefined auto responses, so hopefully I’ll be able to respond soon.

Checking the Weather

Forget asking Siri what the temperature is today, just glance at your wrist to see the current temperature. Within a few taps you can even get a seven day forecast for multiple locations.

Paying for Coffee

The Starbucks Micro app lets you pay for coffee with your watch, just like you would on your smart phone. I love using this app to pay for my coffee — almost as much as the barista enjoys seeing it.

Checking My Calendar

Another nice feature is the ability to see my Google calendar on my watch This lets me get a look at my day without opening up my phone, and it sounds alerts for appointments, which I might not hear or see in noisy environments.

News Reading

Your watch isn’t the best place to read news, but if you want to catch up on a feed while waiting in line you can read your Google Reader feeds. The feeds sync over WiFi, pulling down new content based on your sync schedule.

Leaked Image of Sony’s Rumored Kumquat Smartphone Emerges

We had reported recently about a recent list of leaked product names from Sony’s XPERIA smartphone camp, and now we may have a clearer picture, literally, of what one of those devices may look like. The Sony Kumquat, which bears the product number ST25i, has been depicted in a new leaked image. The device bears a similar styling as the recently announced Sony XPERIA S smartphone, which debuted at CES 2012, with a lighted strip at the bottom housing the Android navigation keys.

The device is expected to be the lesser expensive model in Sony’s upcoming XPERIA lineup and will be a little brother to the XPERIA S and the AT&T-bound XPERIA Ion, which boasts 4G LTE connectivity.

The phone is expected to be announced in February at Mobile World Congress.

The $100 OLPC Tablet Is Really Real and Debuting at CES

The $100 OLPC Tablet Is Really Real and Debuting at CES

Building on its success with laptops designed for developing countries, the One Laptop Per Child project is set to unveil a long-awaited tablet at CES next week. Here's what you get for $100.

The OLPC has been kicking around the idea of a super-affordable tablet for over a year. Originally known as the XO-3, but now dubbed the XO 3.0, the tablet will feature an 8-inch 1024x768 screen with some models also offering a PixelQi 3qi display that mimics E-paper. A Marvell Armada PXA618 chip and 512MB of RAM reside in the tablet's ruggedized shell and will run either Linux Sugar or Android OS.

With a bare-bones feature set, the OLPC tablet should cost about $100 per unit—up from the original estimated price of $75, but still way cheaper than virtually any other tablet on the market.

The coolest feature that the XO 3.0 can be powered by hand-cranking—to the tune of 10 minutes of run time for every minute of work. Why isn't this available on, well, everything? I'd gladly spin a handle for a few minutes if it meant I wouldn't have to beg for outlet time at coffee shops, carry spare chargers, and constantly dread the "low battery" notification.

LG details 55-inch OLED TV at CES 2012

LG details 55-inch OLED TV, will show off its true colors at CES 2012

While building the world's first 55-inch OLED TV panel is nice, it's not worth much unless you put an actual TV around it and LG Electronics will have the total package on display next week at CES. Today's press release reveals more about LG's "4-Color Pixel" and Color Refiner technology it's implementing to bring consistent, accurate colors that it claims will be other OLED TV's abnormal color gamut. LG's press release doesn't mention production plans or pricing, but all of this is squeezed into a frame that's just 4mm thick with a narrow bezel and weight of 7.5kg -- we'll let our eyes decide on the quality of its colors once we meet in person.
