The Moto X is one of the best smartphones on the market, tempting many iPhone 4s and iPhone 5 owners to upgrade to it instead of the iPhone 5s, and a new tool makes the switch even easier.
The Moto X is customizable with the Moto Maker service that lets users pick colors and startup information and now the process includes a free migration assistant that can connect to iCloud and download contacts and calendars directly to Gmail with no muss or fuss.
Many Android phones offer migration assistants to pull user data out of iTunes backups, but this is one of the first that offers the service directly in the order process.

Punit Sonji, the VP of Product Management at Motorola Mobility, shares images of the iCloud to Gmail switcher tool in progress on the Moto Maker website. This appears to be an option only for new Moto X orders. GigaOm highlights a Motorola Help page that outlines how the process will work and what fields will transfer to Google.

The Moto X comes with a Migrate app that connects to another Android phone for easy switching and setup, but the app does not connect to the iPhone. Samsung and HTC both offer iPhone connection services that perform similar operations and even go further by recommending apps users may want to use.
There is no word on if or when the service will come to Moto X owners who buy the device in stores or who already purchased one but need to switch over contacts and calendars from iCloud. Only AT&T smartphones are available through Moto Maker right now, but rumors suggest Verizon will become a part of the Moto X customization in November.
This is not going to be the dealbreaker for most users comparing Moto X vs. iPhone 5s, but an easy way to switch is very important for owners who will already need to re-learn how to use features on an Android phone for the first time.
Apple currently does not offer a switch tool to help Android users switch to iPhone. Users can sign in with Gmail, but this does not bring their photos, apps and other information over.
