Samsung Galaxy S4 Launch Date Coming “Soon”

The Samsung Galaxy S4, which has long been thought to be launching next month at Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, may not be arriving at the trade show after all as Samsung’s Vice President JK Shin says that the device will be coming “soon” in a new report but doesn’t explicitly mention MWC 2013 as its launch date.
In a report from Korean publication News1, Shin confirms a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 for Mobile World Congress. That device was rumored to be real last week and it appears that the company is moving forward with its plans to offer a device in between the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy Note 10.1 which measure at 5.5-inches and 10.1-inches in size respectively. However, it appears that Shin also spilled the beans on another device, the one that many consumers have heard about for weeks now.

The Galaxy S4, seen here in a render, may not launch at MWC 2013.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is Samsung’s heavily rumored successor to the Galaxy S3 and it has popped up in rumors many times over the last few weeks. Many of those rumors suggested that Samsung would be announcing the Galaxy S4 at Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, but it appears that that may not be the case.
In the report, Shin suggests that the Galaxy S4 will be coming “soon” and doesn’t explicitly say whether or not the device will make its arrival at MWC 2013 like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. He also claims that his company didn’t bring a Galaxy S4 prototype to CES to show off to carriers ahead of its eventual arrival.
It’s unclear exactly what Shin means by “soon” but given that the Galaxy Note 8.0 will arrive at the show, it could be that the company waits a bit longer to announce the Samsung Galaxy S4. After all, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is still selling well and it won’t be a year old until May.
Obviously, this is a blow to those that thought the Galaxy S4 would certainly be arriving next month, but given Shin’s remark that it will be coming “soon,” we doubt interested parties will have to wait too much longer for Samsung to unveil their next device.
Thus far, we’ve heard April thrown around as a possible launch month so it’s possible that Samsung will use April and its own event as the Galaxy S4 launch date.
