White HTC Sensation with Android 4.0 Launching March 1st

The HTC Sensation has almost been around for a year now and apparently HTC likes it so much that it’s going to be releasing another edition with a couple of interesting changes. The first, it’s going to be arriving in Ice White, you can see how that color scheme works in the photo. And secondly, it’s going to be launching with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box.

Pretty nice, right?

The device is apparently going to be hitting Europe on March 1st and as we said, it will be coming with the same hardware that arrived on the HTC Sensation that launched in April of last year.

So that means you’ll get the 1.2 GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. You’ll have a 4.3-inch Super LCD display with qHD (540 x 960) resolution. You’ll have 768MB of RAM. 1GB of internal storage space. An 8MP rear camera. And a VGA front-facing camera to round it out.

The design, besides the coloring, will remain the same as well.

Now, it’s an unknown as to whether or not this beauty is going to be making it to the shores of the United States. If we had to guess, we’d probably say no. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t keep your fingers crossed. Or attempt to import one when it arrives.

It’s not that big of a deal though, folks.

Remember, the Mobile World Congress is just around the corner and HTC is expected to unveil a couple of smartphones in the HTC Edge and the HTC Ville. The Edge of course is rumored to be quad-core in nature while the Ville is rumored for T-Mobile’s network.

So, we think you’ll survive if the white Sensation doesn’t end up touching down.

For those of you in Europe though, circle March 1st on your calendar.

A White Nokia Lumia 800 Appears

I have to admit, I used to get excited over having a device come out in white. It’s not the Apple thing that draws me, it’s the fact that Microsoft used to restrict Pocket PC devices to a grey color for so long that color options excite me. These days, it seems like every phone eventually dresses out in white, at least the major phones.

There has already been a handful of rumors that Nokia would offer some of the Lumia series smart phones in white. The Lumia 800 already comes in cyan, pink, and black so the natural next color, if any, would be white. Personally, the cyan Lumia 900 on Verizon is all I am waiting for, I don’t need white! The SE Xperia X10 is the last white phone I buy for the sake of just having a white phone!

Earlier today, WP Central posted a photo found on Nokia’s Facebook page that hinted towards a white offering of the Nokia Lumia 800. It was a VERY subtle hint. Just take a look at the photo below and let me know if you don’t get it!

Well, a couple of hours later, more info about the white version surfaced on Nokia Conversations.

The Nokia Lumia 800, dubbed the first real Windows Phone, has been turning heads ever since it was launched back in October, thanks to its stunning curved design in cyan, magenta and black. But news of the phone's launch in white today is the icing on the cake. In white, the smoothly-crafted polycarbonate unibody case perfectly offsets the uniquely curved ClearBlack touch screen.

The white Nokia Lumia 800 is due to be rolled out first in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Scandinavia, Finland, Poland and Switzerland, with other countries to follow.

White Galaxy Nexus Release Date Official

Back in the early part of January, we showed you a white Samsung Galaxy Nexus that was apparently, at least according to retailers, going to be headed across the pond to the United Kingdom. Today, that device is official and it’s going to be hitting shelves next week on February 13th. And it probably won’t be just Clove UK and MobileFun who carry it either.

Samsung says that it’s going to be coming to a wide-range of stores across the United Kingdom when it arrives on Monday so if you’re interested, you should have plenty of options in both the physical and virtual sense.

As for those of you living in the United States, there are currently no plans, at least official ones, to launch the white version of the phone. That of course could change in a heartbeat but as of right now, you’re going to have to import one and use it on AT&T or T-Mobile.

The white Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the same exact phone as the Galaxy Nexus that launched in December of last year. Only this one has a nearly all-white design save for the bezel up front which remains black as night.

Everything else is the same.

4.65'' HD Super AMOLED display which boasts 720p resolution. That’s 1280×720 for those keeping score. It will have the same mediocre 5MP camera up in the front. It’ll have a 1.2GHz dual core processor and HSPA+ 4G connectivity.

And of course, it’ll have Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system right out of the box. If you’re not familiar with Android 4.0 and all it has to offer, you’ll want to check out this guide.

Who’s Using Twitter? [REPORT]

 The Pew Center is out with a new report that focuses on Twitter usage in the U.S., and it reveals that 6% of the entire U.S. adult population uses Twitter.
Young adults ages 18 to 29, minority groups — 13% black and 18% Hispanic — and urban dwellers are among the groups with the highest level of Twitter use. The report reveals that women and those with college educations are also slightly more likely than other groups to tweet.
One-quarter of Twitter users check the service multiple times per day to see others’ tweets, while one in five never look for new updates. Here are some select statistics about the actual tweets that are going out there:
  • 72% of Twitter users say they post updates about their personal life, activities or interests.
  • 62% post work-related updates.
  • 55% use Twitter to share links to news stories.
  • 53% use the service to retweet others’ material.
  • 40% use the service to share photos with others, while 28% use it to share videos.
  • 24% tweet their location.
The report was compiled as a result of multiple surveys: Data on overall Twitter usage and demographics is from the Pew Internet Project’s November 2010 tracking survey. Information on how often people use Twitter, as well as the topics they post about, were from two October 2010 surveys.
According to the center, this is the first time it has conducted research that focuses solely on Twitter users. This is because Pew typically looks into general online activities, as opposed to particular brands. So in most instances, the center’s research has involved asking Internet users if they “used Twitter or another service to share updates about yourself or to see updates about others?”
In August 2008, 6% of Internet users answered “yes.” By September 2010, the number had changed to 24% — but some analysts and readers assumed this pertained to Twitter users alone. This is what led researchers to decide that Twitter usage was worthy of being examined on its own. As we enter 2011, it will be interesting to see if Twitter remains an entity worth studying in an extensive manner.
